We pulled up a winding gravel driveway deep in the densely wooded hills of Brown County, Indiana and I immediately saw it: the most Indiana thing to ever Indiana.
Gravel court, filled with puddles that the ball would certainly find? Check.
A driveway with a steep hill the ball would certainly roll down multiple times per game? Check.
A backboard with splitting wood that certainly had dead spots, inevitably leading to a homer advantage? Check.
Millions of shots taken, made and missed, in hopes of one day walking on a certain court just 30 miles away? A million times check.
Hoop dreams, indeed.
